Ya know…I never thought abortion would be outlawed, but these conservatives are finding loop holes to make our lives miserable.

Demeaning Status.

Status: Some girls just need to be fitted with a muzzle. you dont need to be able to talk to work the kitchen ladies. Don’t abuse your priveledge!

This lost young man that I am friends with on Facebook repeatedly posts statuses that say things like the one i copied above. He’s telling us not to abuse our privilege when he in fact…cannot even spell privilege. Hopefully this young man will find his way and stop saying such ridiculous things (doubtful). Then maybe he will find a girlfriend that lasts longer than a week.

The Black Swan

SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

I must admit, when I first saw the trailer I wasn’t sure how I felt about it and if I would even see it. The trailer did not do it justice. The cinematography, costumes, acting, and the mind f*ck this movie gives to the audience just made it amazing.

The film contains issues such as sexual harassment and the pressure to be perfect.

Mad Men…a show that will make anyone a Feminist

http://www.sidereel.com/Mad_Men

I don’t know if you’ve seen this show, but I just started to watch it this winter break. Mad Men is set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the newly created firm of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The focal point of the series is  Don Draper,  creative director at Sterling Cooper and a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, as well as those in his life, both in and out of the office. As such, it regularly depicts the changing moods, social mores, and political correctness of 1960s America. The show illustrates a bunch of key points of 1960 life like cigarette smoking, drinking, adultery, homophobia, racism and antisemitism. Most notably though there is a strong sense of sexism and feminism throughout the whole show. After the first episode you’ll be so ticked off that you will have to keep watching.

I think this may be the first series of ads I’ve seen that makes the point that gender equality is needed to change the world.

Life’s Lessons, Pt. 1:

  1. Make sex.
  2. Tape it.
  3. Have sex tape released to the public by nefarious means.
  4. Profit wildly from sex tape, subsequent “reality” show and—now that you’re undeservedly in the highest of tax brackets—generous Republican tax break.

Via ABC News:

Elizabeth Edwards has passed away after a long battle with cancer. The 61-year-old wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards died at home Tuesday afternoon with her family around her.
The news came after the Edwards family announced Monday that cancer had spread to her liver and doctors were recommending against further treatment.
The family issued a statement Tuesday evening:
Elizabeth Anania Edwards, mother, author, advocate died today at her home in Chapel Hill, surrounded by her family.
Today we have lost the comfort of Elizabeth’s presence but she remains the heart of this family. We love her and will never know anyone more inspiring or full of life.
On behalf of Elizabeth we want to express our gratitude to the thousands of kindred spirits who moved and inspired her along the way. Your support and prayers touched our entire family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wade Edwards Foundation which benefits the Wade Edwards Learning Lab at www.wade.org.
Before her death, Edwards posted the following message to friends on her Facebook page:
“You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope. These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined. The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that. And, yes, there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It’s called being human. But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful. It isn’t possible to put into words the love and gratitude I feel to everyone who has and continues to support and inspire me every day. To you I simply say: you know.”
Remembering an icon, one who stood up for his beliefs of peace and equality through his music.
One of the many philosophical statements this smart young man posts as his status.
